Duck Tales! Oh-woo-ooh! If you watched the Disney Channel at all in the late 80’s you are singing along. It’s one of those nostalgic shows that makes you smile as it instantly takes you back in time. A new generation will be oh-woo-ohh-ing with us now for Duck Tales Returns to Disney XD on August 12th. I got to watch the premiere episode and it’s just as you’d hope it to be.
Duck Tales Returns
The new animated comedy-adventure series “DuckTales” chronicles the high-flying adventures of Duckburg’s most famous trillionaire Scrooge McDuck, his mischief-making triplet grandnephews – Huey, Dewey and Louie, temperamental nephew Donald Duck and the trusted McDuck Manor team: big-hearted, fearless chauffuer/pilot Launchpad McQuack; no-nonsense housekeeper Mrs. Beakley; and Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack, resident adventurer and the triplet’s newfound fierce friend. After a long overdue family reunion reunites Scrooge with his nephew, grandnephews and epic past, the family of ducks dive into a life more exciting than they could have ever imagined.
A New Look
Featuring a distinct animation style inspired by the classic Carl Barks’ comic designs, “DuckTales” celebrates the importance of family and friendship, with comedy, mystery and adventure at every turn. Each 22-minute episode follows the ducks on thrilling explorations as they embrace courage, creativity and the rewards of stepping outside your comfort zone. With relatable and unique personality traits, the next generation of adventurers Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby each embody characteristics of real kids and set examples for young viewers to be confident, curious, independent and innovative.
Perfect for the whole family.
Created for kids, families and kids-at-heart — with several nostalgic nods to the original — the new series tails adventure-obsessed Scrooge McDuck, who has left behind a life of exploration, mystery solving and globetrotting for a businessman’s life in the city of Duckburg. When Scrooge is unexpectedly reunited with his family, quick-thinking Huey, troublemaking Dewey and fast-talking Louie question everything about their once legendary great-uncle. Enthralled by Scrooge and the wonder of McDuck Manor, the triplets and Webby learn of long-kept family secrets and unleash totems from his epic past, sending the family – which includes Webby, Mrs. Beakley and Launchpad McQuack – on daring worldwide escapades. Together, the finely honed team wards off danger that lurks behind them.
After screening the new show we chatted with Executive Producer Matt Youngberg and Co-Producer/Story Editor Francisco Angones (interview to come). Following the interview, we got an opportunity to do what many of us have dreamed about, juming into Scrooge McDuck’s money pit! Oh, what a joy!
The cast joined in the money pit fun at the D23 Expo. Stars Ben Schwartz (Dewey Duck), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), and Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley) all got right in too!
DuckTales and its “Woo-oo!” movie will reach far and wide in 34 languages in 162 countries on Disney XD channels and Disney Channels worldwide. It will premiere in a one-hour television movie on Disney XD. DuckTales will air for 24 consecutive hours on Saturday, 8/12 beginning at midnight EDT/PDT. Then, the series will debut with two new episodes 9/23 (7:00 AM, 11:00AM, 2:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 8:00 PM, 10:30 PM EDT/PDT).
