The Inn on the Beach at Pass-a-Grille

I have lived in Florida pretty much my entire life. With over 600 miles of beaches, it would be hard to visit them all, but I have visited too many to count. However, until recently, one area I hadn’t visited was Pass-a-Grille, which is part of St. Pete Beach on the west coast of Florida. I had no clue what I had been missing.

Truly one of the most pristine beaches with the most beautiful shells I have ever visited. The sand is like sugar, until you get to the shells of course. It’s a shell lovers paradise. And when visiting a beach like this, it takes a special place to stay, and I found that at the Inn on the Beach.

When we were invited to check out the Inn on the Beach, we weren’t sure what to expect. We were happy to see the great reviews, and the photos of the location looked amazing, but with beach properties, you just never know what to expect. The Inn on the Beach exceeded our expectations.

When we arrived, I was pretty excited to check out our room. When I saw those double doors, I knew we’d be spending a good portion of our time here.

As we walked around the side of the hotel to follow the signs for the office, this is what we found. A cute little courtyard area. The entries to all 14 rooms are located around this area, both upstairs and down. I was greeted by one of the Inn’s hosts, Dee, and she opened the door to the room and it truly took my breath away.

The door opened to a room with a view that had me in awe. The beach is directly across the street from the Inn, and the view of the water, the sky and the trees…it was a little piece of paradise.

It really is so beautiful, cozy, and easy to feel right at home in the White Ibis. With a full kitchen, we took advantage of making some things to eat, but breakfast is complimentary on weekends at the Inn on the Beach, and it was perfect. With OJ, coffee, breakfast breads and fruit, it was a nice thing to offer, and a time to meet others also staying at the Inn.

Perfect really. But nothing beats the sunset view from the room. The weather was perfect. About 70 with a cool breeze. We had the doors open, and with that we could hear the birds, along with the waves washing up. Add that with the most perfect spot to watch a sunset, we were in heaven. It’s easy to fall in love with the Inn on the Beach.

So what is there to do in Pass-a-Grille? I mentioned shelling, and of course there is fishing. There are great restaurants, with one being the Wharf, which we had dinner with a pretty spectacular view. And even with it getting a little chilly on the water, I mean, it was January, they had heaters to keep us warm.

A few of the things to do-

Enjoy the beautiful view of Pass-A-Grille Beach while shopping. A collection of local shops and artists come out every Friday and Sunday from 9 AM till 3 PM to provide a great way to spend the afternoon! Listen to local music, enjoy some of the local artists flair and if you get hungry, the Paradise Grille is conveniently located right next door!

Merry Pier

  • Come and go fishing at The Merry Pier. Buy some bait from the baithouse and catch snook, redfish, Spanish mackerel and more while fishing from the seawall. You can rent a rod and catch your dinner or buy some fresh seafood from the fish market.
  • Shell Key Shuttle – Hitch a ride out to beautiful Shell Key. This island is a beautiful, untouched example of Florida’s sunny charm! Sunset/dolphin watch cruises are also available.

Everything was walking distance. There was a little art festival, where we learned quite a bit about butterflies, checked out some jewelry, and enjoyed some live music playing at the bar and grill next door.

Also within walking distance is shopping. I fell in love with this cute shop, Galene’s Paridise, where prices are reasonable, but the owner and her dog Jenny are delightful!

I know there are so many beaches as I mentioned in Florida. But there is something truly special about the Inn on the Beach. Luckily for us, it’s less than an hour and half away from where we live. So whether you are a Florida resident like me, or traveling to Florida anytime soon. If you want to relax, and have a vacation that has you feeling rested and refreshed, you too will find this at the Inn on the Beach.

I can’t end this post without mentioning the hosts again. Dee checked us in and was super nice, but Shelia was there all weekend. She was very helpful and simply loves her guests. Our room had a guest book, and it was wonderful to read all the sweet comments left for both Shelia and Dee about the Inn on the Beach.
