It’s really hard to believe that in just a few short months my baby girl will be spreading her wings and heading off to college. As much of an emotional roller coaster that it has been for me, I have to focus on helping her the best way I can to avoid the stress of paying back student loans once she graduates and begins her adult life.

Planning for College: Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Luckily, she has fantastic grades, tons of community service hours and is just an all around great student. So thus far, she’s been accepted to all the schools in which she applied. Some have been very generous offering quite a break on tuition, but still, it’s expensive, and that’s why we are going down every avenue possible to get her the most financial aid possible. Being of Cuban and Mexican descent has given her the opportunity to apply for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. As she shared in her senior speech below, she knows what she’s passionate about, and by taking advantage of every opportunity out there like the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, she will have more opportunities in her college life.

After taking the time to set up an account, I have learned that the Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers over 150 types of scholarships. Founded back in 1975, they have administered over $470 million in scholarships. That’s pretty impressive. They also provide access to internships & mentoring opportunities as well as being able to connect scholars with other organizations.

Founded in 1975, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund empowers Latino families with the knowledge and resources to successfully complete a higher education, while providing scholarships and support services to as many exceptional Hispanic American students as possible.  HSF strives to make college education a top priority for every Latino family across the nation, mobilizing our community to proactively advance that goal – each individual, over a lifetime, in every way he/she can. HSF seeks to give its Scholars all the tools they need to do well in their course work, graduate, enter a profession, excel, help lead our nation going forward, and mentor the generations to come.  As the nation’s largest not-for-profit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, the Fund has awarded over $470 million in scholarships and provides a range of ancillary programs for students, HSF Scholars, Alumni, and parents.  For more information about the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, please visit: Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

One thing I love to see is when a brand partners with organizations that better the future of our children. Having said that, I found it refreshing to learn that Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. is now an official partner with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
