Who is Chris Stapleton?

I think I asked myself this very question at least 50 times today. From the looks of things on Twitter tonight, I am not the only person asking. I hadn’t ever heard of Stapleton until I did a post about the CMA’s earlier today sharing his highly anticipated collaboration with Justin Timberlake.

Just a little bit ago that so mentioned collaboration happened on the CMA’s, and I am still in awe. I am sorry for the advertisers after that performance, for I instantly hit rewind to watch it again. So good.

It took about 3 seconds to go to iTunes and buy his album. He is SO good! Then I watched this.

“It’s basically like breathing to me. If I don’t get enough of it, it’s like I’m not going to get enough air.”

His story, his voice, his passion. I am a fan.

His bio from his site tells us he was born in Kentucky.  A singer, songwriter and producer, Chris Stapleton is one of Nashville’s most revered craftsmen.

He may be new to me, and well, even you reading this, but with a 15-year career that includes No. 1 hits, Grammy Award nominations, feature film contributions, the respect of his peers, he can now add an album.

“Traveller” was released earlier this year. Described as “blessed with an otherworldly voice”, Stapleton earned this respect in numerous recording studios and anonymous writing rooms on Music Row and on stage as a touring headliner and opener for the most popular acts in the genre.

He has written five No. 1 songs for George Strait, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker and Josh Turner and contributed cuts to several major motion picture soundtracks. He’s also been nominated for three Grammy Awards and won the International Bluegrass Music Association Emerging Artist of the Year award as a member of The SteelDrivers. And as of tonight, he can add CMA award winner to that list!

His songwriting credits span all genres and artists from Adele to Jason Aldean and he’s recorded with everyone from Miranda Lambert to Don Williams. I do believe we have all been introduced to someone special tonight.
