How to Properly Fight the Flu

There is so much controversy surrounding the flu shot.  Do you get it?  Do you not get it?  Are you like me, the one time you did, you still got the blazing flu?  Ugh!  I know, I know, there are several strands, the shots aren’t full proof, and all that jazz.  But in my years of living through the flu season I have learned what works best for me.

How to Properly Fight the Flu

First and foremost, I try to avoid getting the flu.  Hand washing is key in this.  It sounds so trivial, but it really is a big deal.  I am one of those that grabs an antibacterial wipe at the grocery store and wipes down my cart handle, the seat and if I am feeling really anti germ, I wipe down the outer perimeter of the cart.  Carts gross me out,  as well as door handles and railings on staircases.  Ew…gross.  My poor kids used to get in the car from school with their hands out knowing I was about to douse them in hand sanitizer.  Washing hands is a big part of staying healthy.

Eating healthy too is a good way to help protect yourself from the flu.  Getting plenty of fluids and rest is also key.  Add some vitamin C to your diet.  And my family takes echinacea to help keeping us healthy.  But when the sniffles start to come, I have to say, GiGi’s Matzo Ball Chicken Soup has always helped me.  I swear, when she says it’s Jewish penicillin, there is truth there!

But when it comes and hits you like a preview of death, then there is nothing quite like Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil Severe.  It truly is, has been, and always will be my go to medicine.  It helps alleviate all the symptoms.  The DayQuil is great for helping keep the cough, runny nose and aches and pains under control without knocking you out.  But for me, it’s the NyQuil Severe that I can’t imagine having the flu without.

Where do you run out to get this relief in a bottle from?  Well Walmart of course!  Walmart has everything you need to get through cold and flu season.  In one stop, you can grab Vicks Severe, Puffs tissues, ingredients for chicken soup, and maybe some fuzzy socks!  Vicks DayQuil and NyQuil Severe are available at Walmart.com and in stores and of course offers the best everyday value for all your health care needs.  So make sure to stock up on all you need for this flu season!
