Why We Use Homeaway

When you vacation with your family or friends, staying in a hotel can be, well, cramped. I travel a bunch, mostly alone on business, and for that, yes, a hotel makes sense, but even when Donnie and I travel for the just the two of us, with the girls or in a group we know a secret that I am about to share with you that will save you so much stress and money.  So when HomeAway asked if I wanted to do a post about using them when looking for a vacation home, it was an easy yes. Staying in a condo or vacation home has so many misconceptions and I am about to change those for you right now.

Let’s take an easy one to use for an example. For a family of 5 visiting Orlando, the least expensive hotel with 2 beds doesn’t allow more than 4, so for a family of 5 that would mean you need two rooms. Keep in mind, the least expensive hotel staying on site at the most popular attraction costs $107+ per week night and $127+ over the weekends.

This is for a basic hotel room, 2 beds, 1 bathroom. Now check out HomeAway, for a 3 bedroom gorgeous condo, with 3.5 bathrooms, full kitchen, washer and dryer with rates starting at $69+ per night.

Why We Use Homeaway

Amazing right? And HomeAway is the world’s largest vacation rental marketplace. So that means that this condo is just one of a million listings in 190 countries. See, when we travel, we all like to have our own space. When we are ready to turn in for the night, we like to watch different things on TV, we like to all shower at night or in the morning, and we all can, when we want, without having to wait. We save a ton of money on having breakfast in the condo alone. You can spend what you would spend on breakfast for one morning eating out for the week when staying in a vacation home. Many homes have their own pools and even game rooms. For us, it has become the best choice when we vacation.

What Kids Want on Vacation:

When your kids are happy, you’re happy too. For example, letting them choose what they have for dinner—providing they eat their greens from time to time—allows you to enjoy your own meal without any food-flinging tantrums! So it makes perfect sense to ensure that your kids are also happy on vacation.

More and more parents are letting them join the conversation about where to take the next family vacation—and who to invite along. It’s a growing trend known as kidfluencing, when children’s opinions help the whole family come to a decision. If your children are a little shy or the only answer you get from them is a surly shrug of the shoulders, don’t worry—our in-depth survey means we can share exactly what kids want from a vacation rental.

I know that even with my girls at 15 and 17, they like to have their space and freedom while on vacation too. I love this contest they are running! Let me know if you enter!
