Every once in awhile, there are moments that cause you to just pause and appreciate the little things…
… The smell of the rain. The coolness it brings right before it falls. The enchanting rhythm of the pitter-patter as it falls on the thirsty earth. Seeing it again for the first time through your little one’s eyes.
… Artwork that has you awe-struck that you must stop the car and breathe in the beauty. Subtle hue changes as the sun sets and the skies grow dark. Breathtaking and serene. Art by nature at its finest.
… A tasty plate of food graciously prepared by the one you love the most. Simple conversation mixed with laughter and meaningful silence amidst each scrumptious bite. A rare moment to enjoy each others company amongst the busy, crazy hours of life.
… Finding sand in your shoes from your last visit to the beach. You can feel the salty, cool breeze embrace your skin and the rush of the waves take over. Sand welcoming you to sit, create, relax; stirring memories old and new.
The little things hidden in the seemingly mundane that can truly mean so much. They can change the course of your day, and if you let them, they can change the way you view your life in a truly profound way . In the midst of the hustle and bustle, there is a precious memory waiting to be uncovered, a hilarious notion waiting for a laugh, a simple beauty wanting to be noticed, a smiling face from a new friend – all seeking to give you fresh perspective, a feeling of belonging and a reminder that you are loved.
For me, this is the most important lesson that I learned while traveling. If you become consumed by daily minutia, you miss the magic of life itself.
So today, whether you’re traveling or folding laundry, take a moment. Snap a photo, call a friend, be still, breathe in your surroundings…just take a moment to seek out and marvel at the little things.
